PUBLICATION RULES for Vectores de Investigación Magazine (Journal of Comparative Studies of Latin America)

When submitting a text to be refereed in the Investigation Vectors Indexed Journal (Journal of Comparative Studies of Latin America), they must comply with the following three fundamental requirements to be eligible to be refereed to be published in the journal:

1 The content of the publication must refer to a topic of international scope; it cannot deal with a topic specific to a single country, even if it is your own.

2 The bibliography must have used at least two languages.

3 The text must be totally original, and cannot have been presented or published in another magazine or book.

If one of these three requirements is not met, you should not propose the text, and you should work on it until you have them.

The originals that are delivered for publication will go through an editorial process that will take place in several phases:

1. Papers submitted for publication must be of an eminently academic nature. Due to the nature of the editorial, it is clear that journalistic texts or general comments on any subject will not be accepted.

2. The name of the author(s) or another form of identification should only appear on a title page.

3. The collaborations must be submitted in their final and complete version, since changes will not be accepted once the ruling and production process has begun.

4. Once it has been determined that the text meets the requirements established by the publisher, it will be sent to two anonymous readers, who will determine: A. Publish without changes. B. Publish when minor corrections have been completed. C. Publish after a thorough review and D. Reject. In case of discrepancy between the two results, the text will be sent to a third referee, whose decision will define its publication or not. The results of the academic opinion process will be final in all cases. Papers sent by academics from an institution will always be submitted for consideration by external referees.

5. The author(s) grant(s) CiECAL permission for their theoretical material to be disseminated in the printed book and magnetic, photographic and internet media. The economic rights of the texts published by CiECAL belong to the author, shared with the Center for Research on Comparative Studies of Latin America and the Institute of Historical and Economic Studies of the Complutense University of Madrid, insofar as both can reproduce it, after academic acceptance. and publisher of the original so that it is published and distributed both in print and electronic version.

6. Likewise, the author (s) retains (n) his moral rights as established by law. The main author will receive a form of transfer of economic rights that must be signed by him, with the understanding that he has obtained the consent of the other authors, if any. On the other hand, the authors may use the material of their text in other works or books published by themselves, with the condition of citing CiECAL as the original source of publication of said text. It is the author’s responsibility to obtain the corresponding authorization in writing for all material that is part of his text and that is protected by the Copyright Law.

7. The collaboration must include the following information: A. Title of the work, preferably brief, that clearly refers to the content. Subtitles are accepted to clarify and expand the content of the collaborations. B. A summary in the original language in which the article is written, not exceeding 150 words, with concise information about the content: main results, method and conclusions acquired. It must be accompanied by a list of between three and five keywords for bibliographic indexing purposes. The CiECAL editorial staff will be in charge of the respective translations, in the event that the author does not present it. C. A cover page with the general data of the author(s) that include: A. Full name. B. Center or department to which they are attached (if employed. C. Institutional postal address. D. Highest level of studies achieved (discipline or field and institution) and ongoing studies, if any. E. Line of research F. Complete bibliographical references of the last 3 or 4 publications (include number of pages) G. Any other activity or outstanding professional function that corresponds H. Telephone and email address.

8. Papers must meet the following characteristics: A. They will be presented in one and a half (1.5) spacing, in 11-point Times New Roman type, without word breaks, with an extension of 10 to 15 pages for that matter. research (including tables, notes and bibliography); of

10 to 12 for critical notes, and 3 to 5 for book reviews. B. Papers submitted in Word must not contain any format: no indentation, spacing between paragraphs, no style sheets, special characters, or more commands than those related to the divisions and subdivisions of the paper should be used. C. The tables, as well as the graphs, figures and diagrams, must be presented in the same space where they must be inserted in the text to be published. They must be stored in an updated version of Excel (for graphs and charts or tables). Tables, maps, plans and figures will be numbered with the Arabic system (table, figure… 1, 2, 3, etc.). As for the latter, they must be handled in jpg format at a minimum of 300 dpi. D. The titles or subtitles must be differentiated from each other; for this, the use of the decimal system is recommended. E. Harvard notation will be used for in-text references; that is to say: author’s last name, year and page written between parentheses: (Author, 2000: 20). F. The bibliography should not be unnecessarily extended -the one strictly cited in the text- and should contain (in this same order): name of the author, year of publication (in parentheses), title of the article (in quotation marks) and title of the book or magazine (in italics), publisher, number, city and total number of pages in the case of an integrated text. Example: A. Surname, Name (Year), Title of the book, Publisher, City. B. Surname, Name, Surname, Name (Year), Title of the book, Publisher, City. C. Surname, Name (Year) “Title of the book chapter”, in Name Surname (coordinator), Title of the book, City, pp. D. Surname, Name (Year) “Title of the article”, in Name Surname (coordinator), Title of the journal of Institution, City, Volume, Number, pp.

9. The minimum structure of the work will include an introduction that clearly reflects the background of the work, its development and conclusions.

10. The document must be sent in worb, with which it will work, and in pdf to know its structure, and to include graphics it must be attached in jpg and excel format (if work has been done in this format or in format in that they have done it).

The text must be submitted for arbitration, after having been submitted, the suitability or not of its publication will be indicated and, in the case of being accepted, the recommendations that have been made known to the blind peers who arbitrated your text will be attached.

If accepted for publication in the magazine, you must support the edition with $4,900.00.

From the beginning it can be indicated that if the text is original, with a bibliography in two languages and deals with an international topic or methodology in general, it can be presented as the first option to be refereed for the journal, but if it does not comply with a Of these three requirements, you must already do it directly to be considered for a book chapter.

CiECAL reserves the right to make any editorial changes it deems appropriate. Originals will not be returned.

GUIDE FOR AUTHORS

Investigation Vectors Magazine (RVI) is a journal that includes all disciplines related to the social sciences, humanities and health, to the diversity of approaches and methodologies, although this does not represent any responsibility regarding the content of the articles. Articles are reviewed by two blind peers. The originals that are delivered for publication will go through an editorial process that will take place in several phases:

10. If the printed original is presented (including text, graphs, charts and other supports), a diskette, or even better, a compact disk, must be attached with the Word text files.

11. RVI reserves the right to make any editorial changes it deems appropriate. Originals will not be returned.

12. Every researcher is free to send his article proposal to the Investigation Vectors Magazine, for it to be refereed by two blind peers. After the text is accepted, it goes on to the inclusion process in the number of the corresponding journal.

The articles may be delivered to the Editorial Office of the journal, to the attention of the Director of the journal at the Center for Research on Comparative Studies of Latin America (CIECAL), or they can be sent by regular mail or internet to the following email: ciecal @centro-ciecal.org

PLAGIARISM AVOIDANCE POLICY

The Investigation Vectors Magazine makes use of an appropriate mechanism to avoid plagiarism in the content of the articles it publishes, accommodating the originality percentage standards that are demanded internationally. Articles are reviewed by two blind peers.

INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Revista Vectores de Investigación (RVI) is a journal open to all disciplines related to social science, humanities and health in the context of specific regions and cities. It is also open to different viewpoints and methodologies; however, it has no responsibility for the content of its papers. Articles are reviewed by two blind pairs. The originals of the manuscripts submitted to be considered for publication will undergo an editorial process comprising several stages:

1. The manuscripts submitted to RVI must have an eminently academic character. Due to the nature of the journal, it is impossible to accept journalistic or general comment papers about any subject.

2. The name of the author(s) or any other form of identification must only appear on the cover page.

3. The collaborations must be submitted in their final and complete version, since it will be impossible to accept changes once the refereeing and production processes have started.

4. Once it has been decided that the paper complies with the requirements established by the journal, it will be sent to two readers who will anonymously determine whether the article will be: A. Published without changes. B. Published eleven minor corrections have been made. C. Published once a major revision has been made or D. Rejected. In the case in which both results differ from each other, the article will be sent to a third referee, whose decision will determine the result of the refereeing process. In all cases, the results are unappeasable. The articles submitted by staff of an academic institution will always be submitted for consideration to referees external to it.

5. The authors agree to grant RVI permission to distribute their material in the journal, as well as in magnetic and photographic media. The patrimonial rights of the papers published in RVI are transferred to the Center for Research on Comparative Studies of Latin America (CIECAL), after the academic and editorial acceptance to publish and distribute the manuscript, both in print and electronically.

6. Likewise, the authors retain their moral rights as established by law. The main author will receive a copyright transfer form that must be signed, with the understanding that the rest of the authors have given their agreement. The authors also retain their right to use the material in their papers in other works or books published by themselves, provided that they die RVI as the original source of the text. It is the responsibility of the authors to obtain the corresponding written permission to use material in their papers that is protected by Copyright Law.

7. The collaborations must include the following information: A. Title of the paper, preferably brief, which clearly refers to its content. It is considered accepted and convenient to have a subtitle in order to clarify and define the content of the collaboration. B. An abstract in the language in which the paper is written and that does not exceed 150 words. The abstract must contain concise information about the contents of the article: main results, method and conclusions. It must not contain tables, numbers, bibliographic references or mathematical expressions. It must also be accompanied by three to five keywords, which will be used for bibliographic indexing purposes. The RVI editorial office will be responsible for the appropriate translations. C. A front-page with general information about the authors, including: A. Full Name. B. Center or Department of affiliation. C. Postal address of their institution. D. Maximum educational attention (discipline and institution) and, current studies (in case this applies). E. Current research lines. F. Bibliographic references of the latest 3 or 4 publications (including page numbers). G. Mention to any other relevant professional activities or positions. H. Telephone and e-mail address.

 8. The collaborations must have the following characteristics: A. The manuscript must be printed with 1.5 line spacing, in 11 point Times New Roman fonts and without truncated words. The length of the manuscript must be between 15 and 40 pages for research papers (including tables, notes and bibliography); between 10 and 20 pages for critics papers and between 3 and 5 for book reviews. B. The manuscript must be typed using upper- and lower-case letters and with appropriate tildes and accents. In case of using Microsoft Word, the manuscripts must not have any given format, i. and. do not use indentations or paragraph spacing, do not apply styles, do not use special characters or more commands than the ones needed for sections and subsections in the paper. C. Tables, as well as graphs, figures and diagrams must be included in separate pages and grouped at the end of the manuscript. The main body must have clear information about the place where they must be inserted. In case they are submitted electronically, the graphs and tables must be sent in the most updated Microsoft Excel format. It is impossible to accept them in any other format, older software or inserted in the text file. The tables, figures, maps, plans must be numbered with Arabic numerals (table 1, 2, 3, etc.). The format of the latter must be jpg with 300 dpi as a minimum. D. Sections and subsections must be easily distinguished; to that end we recommend the usage of a decimal system. E. Citation of references must be in the Harvard system, in other words: author’s surname, rumiearion and page, all in brackets: (Writer, 2000: 20). F. The bibliography must not be unnecessarily extended – include only the references cited in the text — and must include (in this order): name of the author, year of publication (in brackets), title of the paper (in quotation marks) , tile of the book or journal (in italics), publisher, number, city and total number of pages in case of an integrated text. Example: A. Surname, Name (Year), Book title, Publisher, City. B. Surname, Name, Surname, Name (Year), Book title, Publisher, City. C. Surname, Name (Year) “Title of chapter in book” First name Last Name (coordinator or editing, for example), Book Title, City, C. Surname, Name (Year) “Title of magazine article” in Journal Title Institution, City, Volume, Number, pp.

9. The minimum structure of the paper must include an introduction that clearly reflects the background of the work, as well as its body and conclusions.

10. If the originals are submitted in print (including text, figures, tables and other support material), it is necessary to include a floppy or preferably a cd with the text files (MicroSoft Word or Word Perfect in rtf format compatible with pc) and the support material. The name of the files must be printed on the front of the disk. Notice that there must be a file per table and/or figure.

11. RVI reserves the right to make all the changes that are considered to be pertinent. The originals submitted to the editorial office will not be returned.
